Volition Fitness is the Treasure Valley's premiere personal training and strength and conditioning center. We offer 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 personal training in our high-end private facility, with access to top-of-the-line strength and conditioning equipment and the latest technology in body composition measurement.

Personal Training

What to expect as you begin your personal training program at Volition Fitness

1-on-1 Personal Training

This option maintains a semi-private training environment, with only other staff trainers and their clients in studio during your session time. 55 minute-long sessions fully dedicated towards your goals, with any additional programming, nutrition reviews, and body composition assessments included when attending 1x weekly or greater. Reserved time-slot of your choosing with the same trainer throughout your entire plan. Includes private access membership to our facility with a minimum of 1x session per week attended.

2-on-1 Personal Training

Up to two individuals per trainer, per session at an additional $10.00 per person, per session over normal 1-on-1 rates. Pairs options are assessed on a case-by-case basis and may be denied at any time, for any reason, including groups with large differences in fitness level between participants or those with very advanced goals. Please note that we do not actively "partner" individuals (or seek partners for you) for these sessions, and you must enter with or seek out a partner on your own.

Starting personal training:

Your initial visit to Volition Fitness will be a strategy session appointment. This strategy session is a necessary step for our coaches to build an appropriately scaled program for your goals. If you selected an online consultation, this strategy session appointment is free; if you selected an in-person consultation, this will be the first charged session to your account.

Your coach will schedule this visit with you during your consultation.

Following your consultation appointment, your strategy session may include the following (individual needs may dictate necessity, client may opt out of any assessment):

Health Status Assessment

Measure resting heart rate, blood pressure, heart rate recovery, and perform cardiovascular assessments as necessary.

Resistance Training Assessment

Open-ended resistance training assessment based on your goals. May include volume and load tolerance assessments, trunk strength endurance and stability assessment, and more.

Body Composition Measurement

Inbody assessment, girth measurements, and calipers (as desired). These measurements help determine nutrition recommendations as well. We will generate reports and share via email and Inbody app.

Sport- and Goal-Specific assessment

Open-ended assessments based on your goals. May be based on your sport (ie, football speed: 40 yd dash speed) or your individual goals (ie, maximum pullups).

Building Your Program:

Following your strategy session, your coach will work with you to define the next stages of your exercise programming. While all people progress at different rates, generally the progression of training is as follows:

Program Design

  • Programs designed around your specific goals.
  • Programs built from scratch, based on science-driven protocols and practical application experience. Extremely detailed periodization, with additional programming provided for those not completing all training days in studio.
  • Improve flexibility, stabilization, and balance through an integrated performance program with your specific goals in mind.
  • Nutrition counseling, cardiovascular exercise programming, and extra resistance training programming to improve your results.
  • Technique Development & Coaching

  • Learn the proper execution of all exercises relevant to your goals with attentive coaching focused on movement quality.
  • Problem solving exercises prescribed to help you achieve your strength, endurance, or mobility goals even faster.
  • Welcoming, attentive coaching with a focus on building the inner athlete in each client.
  • Build confidence in capability, whether in technique, overall performance, or self-esteem. We build confident, capable athletes across all fitness goals.
  • Modify Exercise Selection

    We work to find the best exercise selections for your needs.

    This may include goal- or sport-specific exercises that yield high levels of improvement to performance via muscular development, motor recruitment patterns, and/or stabilization or muscular endurance. Exercises are chosen for efficency, ability level, and/or rehabilitative capacity.

    Determine optimal Training Doses

    Early stages of training focus on building volume and allowing optimal recovery.

    This may include modifying rep counts, set counts, exercise intensity, tempo, and so on. This will depend highly on your current conditioning level, your strength training experience, and your recovery profile (sleep, nutrition, hydration, and so on).

    Progressive Overload

    The cornerstone of all programs that determines long-term progress.

    As it sounds, we progressively increase training variables to push the body to adapt to training stimulus, making you stronger and more capable than previous workouts.

    Adjust Nutrition and Training

    We continually evaluate your program, looking for variables to optimize.

    This may include raising or lowering training volume, increasing or decreasing training days per week, or altering a number of other variables in the program or nutrition to get you where you want to be.

    Additional Programming

    As your in-studio program progresses, your coach may prescribe additional programming (included) to perform outside of sessions. This may include resistance or conditioning work. This is provided via text documents or Excel (Google Sheets) documents. Clients have the option of performing these additional days of programming in our studio on their own, as described below.

    Inbody Body Composition

    Quickly and accurately determine your body composition using our InBody 270 body composition analyzer. This professional unit delivers clinically accurate measurements of weight, skeletal muscle mass, and percent body fat with a safe, 15-second analysis. Unlike hydrostatic weighing or DEXA scans, InBody assessment does not require underwater measurement or a high expense. As an added benefit, users can access their latest measurement data on the InBody app free of charge. For non-clients, appointments are required.
